In Loving Memory of Maureen Kelly
Cobwood Netball club (aka Sands) is deeply saddened to share the news that a true team player and dedicated member of the netball establishment both in Huddersfield and West Yorkshire, Maureen Kelly died on Thursday 4th February having lost her battle with Cancer.
Maureen was inspirational to so many people, she gave up her time and put amazing amount of passion, energy and enthusiasm into the game both on and off court. Maureen was a fair umpire, great coach, organized secretary and treasurer and all round Star. She will always be known as a formidable defender who shared her love of the game with others by nurturing and encouraging new players no matter their age or ability. She had a competitive streak that stirred the team to rise up to the challenge on big occasions.
Maureen’s selfless, happy and lovely personality is what made everyone she met love her. We appreciate everything she did for the game and our thoughts are with Rodney, her boys and grandchildren. It is safe to say that although Maureen is no longer with us, she will live forever in the hearts of those she left behind. Thank you for everything you have done.
Sands netball team is observing a minute’s silence at the start of their West Yorkshire League match tomorrow and training session on Tuesday. They invite others to do the same in the remembrance of a great lady.
