Maureen Kelly Memorial Tournament 2026

A huge thank you to everyone that made the Huddersfield Netball League’s 2026 tournament such a fun and memorable event. The weather was kind to us, and everyone loves playing at our outdoor venue at Greenhead Park, when it isn’t raining!  Please CLICK HERE to view some photos from the day. 

We can’t thank our umpires enough for supporting this event, as without them, netball just wouldn’t happen. Thank you to all the players and supporters and of course, our competition organisers who volunteer a lot of time and energy to plan and deliver not only the tournament, but also a yearly programme of netball in Huddersfield.

17 teams registered and played their hearts out, to compete to be Trophy and Plate section winners.
We changed the format this year slightly, two groups played against each other, meaning more netball for everyone. Then the top two from each group progressed to the Trophy Semi-Finals, and the third and fourth placed teams from each group moved to the Plate Semi Finals.

We had some fabulous netball in all four Semi Finals; the results were as follows:
  • Plate Semi Final 1 - Hepworth C v Shelley
  • The winner was Hepworth C. The final score was 14-3. Hepworth C moved onto the Plate Final.
  • Plate Semi Final 2 - Hepworth B v Genies
  • The winner was Genies. The final score was 4-3. Genies moved onto the Plate Final.
  • Trophy Semi Final 1 - Hepworth A v Hi Tech A
  • The winner was Hepworth A. The final score was 9-6. Hepworth A moved onto the Trophy Final.
  • Trophy Semi Final 2 - Fountain v Hi Tech B
  • The winner was Fountain. The final score was 12-8. Fountain moved onto the Trophy Final.

Finals
The last two matches of the day were amazing to watch, two culminating games from a very successful day of netball.

Plate Final
A highly contested and close final match for the Plate section saw the Genies team beating Hepworth C by 6-4.

Trophy Final
Hepworth A were crowned winners of the Trophy Final beating Fountain by 12 goals to 4.

A massive well done to our two winning teams of Hepworth A and Genies. We will look forward to presenting them with their trophies at the League presentation evening on Saturday 26th September.

​One final thanks to all the teams who donated money to charity in their entrance fee, and to those who bought raffle tickets. We have raised over £500 for Cancer Research UK in memory of Maureen Kelly and others in our netball community we have sadly lost but will always remember.

Presentation Night

Tickets will also be on sale soon for this year’s presentation night event, to celebrate all the successes from this last year.

Summer League 2026
Its official – we have a new venue and home for the Huddersfield Netball League!!

After a lot of hard work and support from many people, we are delighted to have been able to partner with KAL and for the first time in our history play all our league matches at one central venue.

The Huddersfield Leisure Centre is a fantastic central facility, and with two netball courts side by side we will have hours of netball played on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays evenings throughout the year from January to June and September to December.

Matches will be played from 7.00pm – 10.00pm with spectators able to watch from the balcony, and fixtures for both summer and winter seasons are showing on our league tables should you wish to come along and support or find a team to join.

Secretaries, please remember to submit completed team sheets via the relevant WhatsApp group within seven days of the match. We also need the result sent to the relevant WhatsApp group or online through the website so that results can be collated and posted to the website league tables.
